Volunteer!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at CHILD!

Volunteering has a meaningful, positive impact on our community and plays a role in the success of our programs. We rely on the generosity of our volunteers who give countless hours of their time and talent and we are grateful for their tireless support.

Here are some of the ways you can make a difference at CHILD:

Wednesday Clubs

Do you have a special interest or talent that you would like to share? Show people what you are passionate about and maybe you will inspire them too! Wednesday Clubs give our students the chance to explore something new and interesting to them. In the past, offerings included Mythbusters, gardening, dance, cooking, poetry, filmmaking and photography. Our students have diverse interests! These “electives” are held in 10-week sessions every Wednesday from 11:00 AM–12:00 PM.

Event Volunteers

CHILD hosts several special events throughout the year, including our CHILD at Heart Luncheon (our annual fundraising event), our Talent Show and our Arts and Film Festival. Event volunteers help make these events run smoothly by helping with registration, set-up and decorating, assisting staff and clean-up.

Board and Committee Membership

Play an active role in the present and future of CHILD. Board membership currently requires a commitment of about 10 hours per month, including participating in at least one committee. Board meetings are held once a month (excluding August and December) each year. Committee membership is open to non-Board members and gives community members a chance to participate in fundraising, communications & marketing, finance and strategic planning.

A standard background check (Washington State Patrol and FBI) is required for volunteers who wish to work directly with students. These volunteers will also be required to attend a volunteer training.
